About Me

My photo
imINuit
I am a proud Kingikmiut, i.e., an Inupiat with family of origin roots from the Native Village of Wales, AK. I believes in reclaiming my shared cultural roots as a way to decolonize from, or contradict years, of oppressive genocidal policies. The opportunity cost of becoming colonized, or assimilated, is the lost opportunity (and time) to learn, live, speak, and share my Inupiat heritage. As with anything we do, we ONLY keep the values and traditions that we willing to practice. I do not spend a great deal of time practicing Inupiat traditions as I might hope to, but I do make time to do what I can and live the dream with eyes wide open. Pause for a moment...reflect upon all our ancestors, even our parents and grandparent, who suffered the oppression of FORCED assimilation, yet maintained their cultural integrity and identity, and leaving behind a cultural legacy for the next generation of children to follow. I give thanks to the Inua in the rainbow (the gentle white light spirit) for leading me where I am today. May this same white light guide your sight to set things right...in our time of plight...go in peace...find your purpose...clean house...help others.
